Windows Vista Task Manager Tip

November 20, 2007 | Leave a Comment

Did you know that you can directly summon the Task Manager tool directly in Windows Vista?

Currently you may be using the CTRL + ALT + DEL key combo that is used in Windows XP. This still works, in Vista, but takes you to a new screen from where you get the Task Manager running

In Windows Vista, to access Task Manager “directly”, simply hit CTRL + SHIFT + ESC key combo instead !!!

Disable UAC In Windows Vista

November 16, 2007 | Leave a Comment

It is possibile to disable the User Access Control (UAC) feature in Windows Vista.

As you probably know the UAC is a built in Vista security feature that prompts the user against any potentially damaging changes to the operating system.

You need to think carefully about the reality of turning this security feature off, as nasty programs such as malware may be able to infect your Vista computer if you go ahead.

That said, if you do want to disable the Vista UAC feature:

Type User Accounts in the Start Search Box.

Now in the new windows that appears simply click the link that says:

User Account Control on or off

Renaming Files

November 12, 2007 | Leave a Comment

Have you got a large amount of files that you would like to have the same name?

Sometimes it is great to have a bunch of files named the same but with a different number at the end…

You can do this easily in Windows Vista!

Simply hold down the Ctrl key and then use the LEFT mouse button to select the desired files.  (or you can left click with the mouse and drag to select all the files you want.)

Now, go ahead and press F2 on the keyboard, type in a common name for all the files and press the Enter key.

You should now see all the files are automatically named the same, but with the addition of a unique number after each file.
