Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update

The December 2007 Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update is a package of software updates that address common application compatibility issues in Windows Vista. When you try to install and run certain legacy games or applications in Windows Vista, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

• The game, the application, or the firmware may not be installed correctly.
• The game, the application, or the firmware may cause system instability.
• The primary functions of the game, the application, or the firmware may not work correctly. 

This update is cumulative, and it supersedes update KB935280. In addition to the fixes that are contained in update 935280, this update improves support in Windows Vista for the following games, applications, and firmware:

• Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 - 7.07
• WinAntivirus Pro 2007 v5.0.356
• Webroot Software Spy Sweeper 5.0
• Omniquad Total Security 2.0.3.0
• Windows Internet Explorer 7 

This update also includes fixes that are contained in update 932246. These fixes improve support in Windows Vista for the following applications:

Facebook Calendar in Microsoft Outlook

Are you a Facebook user who also uses Microsoft Outlook?

Have you ever wished that you could have your Outlook calendar update from your Facebook events and birthday lists?

Now, you can! With fbCal, you’ll be able to remember you Facebook friends’ birthdays and all the events you’ve been invited to. In under a minute, you’ll have a Facebook calendar you can subscribe to in Outlook or a downloadable copy you can import into Outlook.

fbCal will actually generate two different types of calendars - one for birthdays and one for events - and each is available as a subscription or a download. Subscription calendars get updated whenever you refresh your calendar after there was a change in your Facebook friends or events.

Download calendars are only accurate up to when you last downloaded the calendar. All the calendars made by fbCal are iCalendar (.ics) format.

To Subscribe to an fbCal Facebook Calendar in Outlook:

1. Click the link for the Internet Calendar Subscription.

2. You might be prompted to acknowledge that you are opening a hyperlink. You should click Yes only if you know and trust the validity of the linked calendar.

3. At the prompt, Add this Internet Calendar to Outlook and subscribe to updates, click Yes.

Hint: Infact you can also use fbCal with:  Apple iCal, Mozilla Sunbird and Google Calendar.

Windows Vista SP1 RC

 The Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Release Candidate (Windows Vista SP1 RC) is now available to the public. In addition to previously released updates, SP1 contains changes focused on addressing specific reliability and performance issues, supporting new types of hardware, and adding support for several new technologies.

Vista SP1 RC also addresses some management, deployment, and support challenges.

Please NOTE:

# If you have a prior version of SP1 beta installed, you must uninstall it prior to installing SP1 RC.

# Microsoft does not recommend installing this software on primary or mission critical systems.

# Windows Vista SP1 Release Candidate is time-limited software.

# Support is through self-help and peer support via a Windows Vista SP1 forum.
