What Does Serial ATA (SATA) Mean?

SATA stands for “Serial Advanced Technology Attachment” and is a computer bus primarily designed for transfer of data between the motherboard and mass storage devices, such as hard disk drives and optical drives, inside a computer.

The main advantages over the older parallel ATA interface are faster data transfer, ability to remove or add devices while operating (hot swapping) – only when the operating system supports it, thinner cables that let air cooling work more efficiently, and more reliable operation.

Most modern PCs use SATA hard drives. There is also an External SATA connector that can be used by external hard drives and this is known as eSATA.

Remove Software You Dont Need

The more software you have installed on your computer, the slower it runs.

Applications make entries into the registry, have services that need to run at startup and of course software requires space on your hard drive.

If you download software on a regular basis, like those 30 day trials… Sort out the ones you no longer need on a regular basis, and get rid of them.

Open the Control Panelon the Start Menu and select Uninstall a Program under Programs.

Select the program you want to remove and click the Uninstall/Change button at the top and follow the on screen instructions to remove it.

Turning Off The UAC

It can be a chore during the early stages, but once you’ve got your PC set up, you see the UAC far less frequently.

I do NOT advise this but you can switch it off.

To do this: Go to the Control Panel

Click User Accounts and Family Safety then User Accounts.

Now select Turn User Account Control off.
