Have you Got Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Yet…
So what does it contain?
# It has all the previously released security fixes and other minor updates.
# It has an update to the Windows kernel to make it Windows Vista kernel – version 6.1
# It has greater device compatibility up from over 40,000 compatible devices to just under 80,000 devices.
# It has greater Reliability.
# It has greater file copy improvements, file copy operations are 44 to 71 percent faster with Service Pack 1 than they were under the original version of Windows Vista.
# It has far greater application compatibility, especially for Enterprise products!
# It has a major change to the Kernel Patch Protection (Known as “PatchGuard”) feature in the Vista kernel that will now allow security vendors to use a set of APIs so developers can write code that interacts with this security feature.
# It has a change to the Windows Vista “Instant Search” feature that will allow other vendors to intergrate their desktop search products with Windows Vista.
# It has a change to Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) that removes the “Reduced Functionality Mode” (RFM) and “Non-Genuine State” (NGS) mode for Vista installs in expired non-activated and non-genuine states.
# It has a change to DirectX 10 now making it DirectX 10.1 Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will support Microsoft’s latest multimedia and gaming libraries.
# It has some greate enhancements for Enterprise customers including: Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP), Secure Digital (SD) Advanced Direct Memory Access (DMA), Extended FAT (exFAT) file system, BitLocker Drive Encryption for multiple drives, Terminal Service printing and so much more!
When Can I get It?
If you have Windows Update set to automatically download updates you’ll be getting Windows Vista Service Pack 1 mid-March 2008 to mid-April 2008.
